In the Waiting Space.

Life has a funny way of putting us in holding patterns. Whether you're waiting on a job offer, clarity in a relationship, a health diagnosis, or the next step on your journey, those in-between spaces can feel like emotional limbo. You’re not where you were, but you’re not yet where you're going. So, how do you stay calm in that place?

Here are a few grounding tips to help you breathe through the waiting:

Anchor in the Present

Waiting often pulls us into the future, into what-ifs, fears, or false deadlines. The antidote is presence. Try grounding exercises like mindful breathing, noticing five things around you, or repeating a simple affirmation like, “I am safe and supported, even in the unknown.”

Let the Pause Have Purpose

Instead of seeing the waiting as wasted time, consider that this pause may be preparing you. Rest, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. There may be something in the stillness you would miss if you rushed ahead.

Limit the Overthinking Loop

It’s tempting to overanalyze every possible outcome. But most of our stress comes not from the waiting, but from our thoughts about the waiting. Set boundaries around worry. Journaling can help move thoughts out of your head and onto paper.

Stay Soft and Open

Often, we try to armor up while we wait. We brace. We try to control. But softening into the uncertainty can make it more bearable. Stay open to surprise, grace, and outcomes better than you imagined.

Remember: No Season Lasts Forever

The in-between won’t last forever. Every season has its cycle. What feels unclear now will eventually reveal itself. You don’t have to have all the answers today.

If you’re in a season of waiting, be gentle with yourself. You are not behind. You are becoming.
